School is ending this week for many kids. Here’s a few ideas to keep them busy this summer:
Art Stop at BMoCA
Saturdays : While adults shop at the Boulder County Farmers’ Market, kids can take part in free, guided art activities on the front porch of the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art. 9am-1pm. 1750 13th St. 303-443-2122.
White Fence Farm The White Fence Farm is a must see destination, with award winning landscaped grounds and year round activities and entertainment for all ages! Take the family for an afternoon and enjoy a family style dinner.
Children’s Programs at the Library
Storytimes for little ones start at 10:15am most days of the week at different library branches; check the website for a storytime schedule and information on other special events, or call 303-441-3099.
CU Science Discovery
Science Discovery offers after-school classes at the University of Colorado about science, math and technology, complete with hands-on experiments. 303-492-7188.
Discovery Days at Longmont Museum & Cultural Center
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays: Discovery Days is a low-cost, interactive, drop-in program that encourages children 2-5 to engage in creative (and sometimes messy) arts and crafts projects. Three sessions each day: 9am, 10:15am and 12:30pm. 400 Quail Road, Longmont. 303-651-8374.
Tiny Town
Nestled in a scenic mountain canyon just 30 minutes west of Denver, Tiny Town is a unique, one-sixth-scale village with its own authentic steam locomotive. Originally opened to the public in 1920, it is the oldest miniature village and railroad in the United States. There are more than 100 handcrafted structures, including the Tiny Town Tribune newspaper building, the Diesel Engine Round House, and a steam-powered locomotive that takes children around the village, making stops along the way.
Friday Fun Night Club
Fridays: The Bob L. Burger Recreation Center in Lafayette offers a weekly supervised program for ages 7-13, with live music, sports activities, swimming, prizes and refreshments. Participants cannot enter or leave the facility without authorized adult permission. Admission is $10, but scholarships are available. 7:30-10:30pm at 111 W. Baseline Road.
Kids’ Events at CU-Boulder

Old Firehouse Art Center Saturday Art Experience
2nd and 4th Saturdays: Crafty and creative kids can take part in free art classes at the Old Firehouse Art Center, 667 Fourth Ave. in Longmont; there are separate sessions for ages 5-8 and 9-12. Preregistration is required. 303-651-2787.
Teen Activities at the Library
The Boulder Public Library, 1001 Arapahoe Ave., offers a variety of free programs for teenagers all year long. 303-441-3099.
- Go Club: Learn to play this ancient game, Sun 2-5:30pm, Boulder Creek Meeting Room
Touch-A-Truck
June 2: Popular annual event for all ages lets participants touch and explore vehicles of all shapes and sizes—like construction and emergency vehicles. There’s also a mini train, face painting and lots more. 9-11:30am at the Louisville Recreation Center, 900 W. Via Appia.
Wild Bear Mountain Ecology Center
Wild Bear provides quality, affordable science education programs to youth and families throughout the area. The center is at 20 Lakeview Drive in Nederland; see list of events on the website.
YMCA Teen Activities
